Archbold conducts scientific fieldwork throughout the heart of Florida, in the vast watershed that forms the headwaters of the Everglades. Waters flow south from here to Lake Okeechobee and to the coasts. The region is one of the most important biodiversity “hot spots” in North America—a home to plants and animals found nowhere else on Earth. We not only document this amazing diversity, but our research also reveals the essential natural cycles of fire, water, and nutrients needed for the survival of species and the health of lands and waters.
Today, Archbold has been given a rare and tremendous opportunity— to purchase valuable lands to continue our preservation and scientific efforts in Agroecology. And we need your help.
